The Rheinboulevard is one of the favourite places for locals to enjoy a beer after work with friends or just to admire the wonderful view of the Cologne Cathedral and the old town.

It is composed of a panoramic trail that is connected to the „Rheinpark” at the one end and at the other it leads until the „Pollerwiesen“. Furthermore, it offers a large outside staircase, which is well-visited especially on warm and sunny days.

The Rheinboulevard was opened in 2015 but during the constructions numerous historical findings were made, which is why the building took longer than excepted. Amongst these are for example remains of the 1700 years old roman castle Divita, foundations of a medieval fort as well as the church „Alt St. Urban“, numerous tombs and remains of a railway embankment from the Prussian period.

Because of its great location between the two bridges Hohenzollernbrücke and Deutzer Brücke, you can perfectly combine a visit of Rheinboulevard with a short walk along some popular sights of Cologne. Depending on where you start your walk, you will see the impressive Cologne Cathedral, discover the small alleys of the old town, walk across the Deutzer Brücke and the Hohenzollernbrücke. Last one is well-known among couples as they attach love padlocks to the fences of the bridge as a symbol of endless love.

Close to the boulevard you will find the „Deutzer Freiheit“. A street full of shops and kiosks where you can provide yourself some drinks. The Café Saint Louis is also located on this street and sells delicious soups and salads for take away.
